Cars

Arrive by road

The journey by car can be made by entering Moldova from Romania or Ukraine. To prepare your itinerary, consult the website www.viamichelin.com .
Generally, when coming from Central Europe, it is advisable to cross Romania because the border points with Moldova are larger and the waiting times are quite short.
The main border crossings are:
Sculeni-Sculeni (Rom.-Mol) a few kilometers from the Romanian city of Iasi,
Albita-Leuseni (Rom.-Mol) near the Romanian town of Husi,
Oancea-Cahul (Rom-Mol) not far from the Romanian town of Barlad,
Criva-Mamaliga (Ucr.-Mol.) about 50 kilometers from Chernovtsy in Ukraine.
More information about border points open for international crossing can be found on the website of the border police www.border.gov.md
Traveling by train is undoubtedly the least convenient way to reach Chisinau: the Moldovan railways still have few international connections to Europe except for the train that connects Chisinau with Bucharest daily. Other convoys with daily departures have Kiev and Moscow as destinations.
For information on timetables it is advisable to visit the German railways website www.bahn.de (reiseauskunft-tickets section) or the Moldovan railways website www.cfm.md.
